Our Village

This is such a quaint little village, we love it. It is 8 km away from Fontainebleau, which is a larger city with all the conveniences.

We have 3 bakeries here, 2 markets, 4 or so restaurants, La poste, a tennis club and several shops run by the locals. The local school is a block from our house, just behind the city offices.

The roads are narrow with cars parked on both sides, if I would have known I needed to be a race car driver I would have spent more time practicing on the boys video games.

I think many of the locals were born here and will die here without going too far in between. There are two old women who we just love. If I can ever snatch a photo of them I will post them. One of them is 95 and walks 10-20 km a day and the other sits on a small wall on the main road everyday for hours just watching life go by. We have talked to both several times (maybe their hearing is bad enough they don't realize we don't really speak French). The lady on the wall now waves to us each time we drive by, it makes us laugh because it took a while to get her to wave.

This is an old painting village and so most of the streets have been named after many of the painters who once lived here. Our street is called Rue Villee de Saint- El.

It is fall and beautiful right now. The weather has been heavenly and we wish you could all see it in real life.
