Fête des mères

May 11, 2008
We found our way to Coutances, where we attended church.
It was a tiny branch-with the eight of us there was a total of 33. I think we shocked the primary, they weren't sure what to do with us.
Next to the building where our meetings were held were two cathedrals. The meeting had just ended in this one as we stepped inside.
This was one of the buildings that made up the square outside of the cathedral. I loved all the flags. As all cathedrals this one had gargoyles too, we'd just never seen one with hair before.
Happy Mother's Day Nikki!
Just down the street was another big cathedral.
It was empty inside so we gave ourselves the mini tour.

Jesse thought the chairs were pretty neat and decided she would take a seat, well the seat fell a lot easier than she thought and with the church empty there was a great echo of noise. It scared her to death-I got the whole thing on video.
Do we look serious? Because we are trying really hard to be.
Across the street was a beautiful garden and the perfect spot for our lunch.
My Mothers day gift.

The best Mother's Day Ever!

It's not Mother's day in France so we were the only ones who thought today was a special.

We visited a town which is one of the largest manufacturers of copper. There was plenty of shiny gold pots in every shopkeepers window.

They had some beautiful memorials for the children who were lost at war and for the men who served their country.

Pat, the cottage owner mentioned that there was a very large beach near by and when the tide went out you felt like you could walk across the country. She wasn't kidding. We tried to reach the water just to say we did, but it was out!

We had a great time searching for more creatures and treasures of the sand.
