Switzerland

April 26, 2008
We woke up to the beautiful town of Florel, which is near Lausanne.
They live in such a beautiful area in a 100 year old farm house which has been restored. There was plenty of room for the kids to run around, which they did a lot of.
It was a gorgeous day full of sunshine, so we hiked the hill next to their house up to the
Tour de Grouze.

At the top of the Tour de Gourze with our backs to the city.

On one side of the tower you could see the town and on the other the majestic mountains and the big blue pond.

We headed for the hills armed with a picnic so we could kill the hunger pains we knew would hit just about the same time we arrived at the top. Picnicing seems to be one of our favorite past times lately.

As the kids rounded the hill I thought they had just popped out of the book Heidi.

It's always so fun to visit locals becuase they know all the hot spots. Kirsten knew of a really hot one-Tristan's chocolate shop in Bougy-Villers. Tristan is not just a chef of chocolate he is the Le maitre chocolatier. (the master of chocolate) This little gem of a shop was full of the most delicious chocolate I have ever eaten. They have little baskets with small samples so you can spend your money and calories wisely.

Everything in this little gem of a shop is divine. It is full of the most delicious chocolate I have ever eaten. There are small baskets full of samples all around the store so when it comes to placing your order you can spend your money and and calories wisely.

The Chocolate master himself. He seemed genuinely excited to have so many happy customers flocking into his little shop. He had just prepared some small samples and invited us into his kitchen for a goûter.
I must say if I were to return and indulge myself again I would order up a couple kilos of the noir truffles. If you are going to make your bank account and hips suffer such a fate, at least make it worth it.
Looking down on Lake Léman (Geneva lake) from the hills of Bougy-Villers. Not only was the chocolate delicious, but so were the views.

Lausanne is the largest city near Florel.

We found these amazing statues in the park.

On our way home we decided to take a quick tour of the beautiful lake. Mark gave everyone rock skipping lessons, and they all tried thier hand at it, The new record is 7 skips.

Sophie & Sabrina, when you both love princess' it's hard not to be immediate friends.

After church with our cousins-McKay, Logan, Dallas, Brayden, Jesse, Sabrina, Annie & Sophie. Do they come any cuter?

Kirsten had told me in an email "I'm sure a weekend in our area would go a long way toward satisfying your desire to see Switzerland." She was right, we loved every bit of our stay with the Monsons, we just wish it could have been longer. Our palettes have now been cleansed so we need to come back for the main course.

Kirsten, thank you for all the delicious food and being such a great hostess.

We made our way home through Beascon, a beautiful village in France. We got out to stretch and wandered through another fabulous park along the river.
