May 9, 2008 Mont St-Michel
Depending when you arrive, you can watch the tide come in and come all the way to the edge of the island-it varies from the time of year and time of day.
Today it is a historical monument, (or huge tourist trap) but in the past it was used as an abbey and then a prison.
Annie at the drawbridge.
Views from the top of the Abbey.
The little alleys were packed with people and so we had to squeeze our way through the crowds.
Jesse trying to lift the giant cannonballs that are near the front entrance.
Dallas giving it a go.
Wow, What muscles! He lifted that thing that like it was a feather.
There was a Japanese man who tried to lift it and had about as much luck as Dallas & Jesse. So Mark showed him how it is done. They all burst into applause. They thought he was amazing.
When we left St-Michel we were in search of a beach. We didn't have too much luck in the beginning. The first thing we found was this huge mud pool.

When we left St-Michel we were in search of a beach. We didn't have too much luck in the beginning. The first thing we found was this huge mud pool.
The best part about the mud was all the creatures that we discovered hiding underneath it.
We found a great beach with lots of sand and lots of rocks for more sea life hunting. They found all sort of crabs-big and small, oysters, dead squid and millions of cool sea shells.
The rocks were a bit hazardous -and painful.
The crabs took us further and further from the sand, which was a problem without shoes.
So you never know what one might encounter on any particular day in France. This was quite the group as they caravaned across the beach. I have no idea where they thought they were going- they were headed straight for the water.

We couldn't let that little pool go unused one more second, so after a long day at the beach everyone jumped in-well not everyone.
