The flower market is quite the ordeal in Nice. It takes place every day except Monday when they have the antique market. It was amazing to see so many different selections of beautiful flowers.
They did have other items besides flowers,
there were fresh vegetables and fruit, olives, jams and jellies, pastries and every
spice imaginable.
You can really smell their merchandise when you walk by.
This artist is a local one. The painting he is holding is one of his own house in Nice. We loved his work and I bought my first piece of french art from him. He was very french and very friendly. My mom bought a piece from him as well and so when we told him we wanted two he said, " Oh, now I am reech!"
The funny sights of the day. The mannequins they like to use have all sorts of funny faces, hair, bodies etc. Many of them have lip and nose rings.
We also have another one of our favorite stops- the lou- this one is also used for advertisement. (Pretty clever)
Taking the boat from Cannes to Ile Sainte-Marguerite. The island where the man in the iron mask was imprisoned.
This is Jesse's creative photography.
The family next to the prison over looking the water. It felt like we were in Count of Monte Cristo.
They still use part of the buildings there for training for their armies.
It was fun to nearly have the place to ourselves, we just took our time and strolled along.
The boys heading back down for the boat ride.
"Oh, Annie and Jesse be careful!"
A couple of my favorite shots on the island.
Waiting for the boat somehow Logan's hat got tipped off (by a big brother I think) into the sea. Not the new Grand Prix hat from Monaco. What to do? Mark and Tifiny hung Jesse over the side to get it, but she was not long enough. We looked around and what do you know this little girl came running down the dock with this very long stick. We were able to scoop it up and rescue the hat. Her mother told us she had been playing with the stick just before they came to the dock so she knew exactly where to look for it, we were such glad- she saved the day!!
Never enough beach time. We ran from the boat dock over to the beach and let them play well into the night. There was a street light just above us, so we had enough light to build several castles.
