Telethon is an important annual national charity event in France to support the French Association against myopathes mostly affecting children.
They sell little animal key chains, have a 24 hour football match and balloons that everyone releases on the last day of the festivities.
They posted signs about 2 weeks ago with the information regarding all the happenings of the week. On Saturday (the last day) they had some activities at school for the kids. Jesse's class played soccer in the morning and I was able to go and play with her class (I even scored a goal, I know hard to believe) then they set up a small track and split the school into teams and had a big relay race.

They asked people to donate baked goods that they could sell at the football match-I donated some "American" choc. chip cookies which they sold 3 for 1 euro. I think I was the only one who donated.
The kids with their balloons ready for the send off. It was very cold that day and before the "release" they had a little performance by some cheerleader, jazz dancers, baton twirler girls. After the first dance the kids had lost interest but they wouldn't stop-they just kept going and going and going. People started to let their balloons go so they could leave, we did the same. When we left they were still going and I think their audience consisted of their moms. It was pretty funny.
I don't think it was quite what they had imagined due to the dancers, but the kids had a great time and it was for a good cause.
Sophie thought that was crazy to let a good balloon go, so she held on tight to hers.
